Air Astana and LOT announce codeshare partnership

Single ticket introduced for passengers travelling between Warsaw and Almaty

Air Astana is pleased to announce a codeshare partnership with the Polish flag carrier LOT, effective immediately. Under the new agreement, Kazakhstan’s award-winning carrier is now selling tickets for LOT’s direct flights from the Polish capital, Warsaw to Astana, Kazakhstan’s capital, as well onwards across its domestic and international network. In turn, under improved interline agreements, LOT is selling tickets for flights to Almaty from Warsaw which includes a connecting flight via Astana. Tickets are being sold on a ‘single ticket’ basis.

LOT’s passengers will benefit from the airline’s partnership with the Kazakhstani carrier which includes an opportunity to purchase a combined ticket at a competitive price on flights to Almaty via Astana (on both LOT and Air Astana flights). It is anticipated that this will result in a rapid expansion of services for the Kazakhstani market.

“LOT will become a more recognizable brand in the Kazakhstani market and attract an increasing number of passengers, who will travel not only to Astana on a single ticket but also to the second major city in Kazakhstan, Almaty,” said Adrian Kubicki, Director of LOT’s Corporate Communications.

Susith Hettihewa, Regional General Manager Air Astana adds: “We are excited to be partnering with such an established carrier as LOT for the benefit of both our business and leisure customers. We look forward to welcoming more visitors to the beautiful country of Kazakhstan from Poland. Equally, we look forward to encouraging more travel from Astana and Almaty to the international tourist destination of Warsaw.”

LOT started operating between Warsaw-Astana in May 2017, using Boeing 737-800 NG aircraft with a seating capacity of 186 and in three travel classes: business, premium economy and economy. This year the flights on that route will also be operated by Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft, the latest narrow-body aircraft in LOT’s fleet (with the same seating capacity across all three travel classes).

At the moment LOT’s flights on the Warsaw-Astana route operate three times a week –on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from Warsaw and on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from Astana. In addition, forth frequency will be introduced effective from April 28th operating from Warsaw to Astana on Saturdays. The flight duration is approximately 5 hours.

Tickets for the new codeshare flights are now available for sale at www.airastana.com and www.lot.com.
