Air Astana has celebrated Kazakhstan’s Independence Day by carrying its four millionth passenger of the year so far, which is the highest number achieved since the airline was launched services in 2002. The total number for the complete year is expected to reach 4.2 million passengers, which is 12% higher than 2016.

International travellers attending Expo 2017 in Astana during the summer made a significant contribution to passenger traffic growth. The airline also recorded growth as it increased the frequency of services from Astana to London, Beijing, Istanbul, St. Petersburg, Novosibirsk, Ekaterinburg, Omsk, Tbilisi, Tashkent, Bishkek, Bangkok and Seoul. Other notable drivers of passenger traffic growth were the launch of a new service between Astana and New Delhi three times a week in July, the re-launch of Astana to Kiev services and added service frequencies from Almaty to St. Petersburg, Tbilisi and Tehran.
