Air Astana has launched its pilot project to support passengers during the peak season, as it is predicted that the number of travellers at airports will approach pre-pandemic levels this summer. In anticipation, Air Astana will make every effort to prevent situations relating to the overloading of ground services by deploying a group of trained volunteers from the airline’s staff who will assist passengers at Almaty International Airport, Kazakhstan’s busiest airport, during the summer holidays.
Volunteers will provide support during situations when flights may be delayed or cancelled, by providing water and food vouchers, advice on rebooking, assistance with check-in at the self-check-in kiosk, and on baggage issues. They’ll also assist passengers who may require special services, meet unaccompanied children and transit passengers, etc.
Given that the peak summer season presents an increased risk of challenging situations, the airline is ready to fully support its passengers, by trying to find the best solution for each case. Volunteers will be in service during peak departure hours.
"It's no secret that the summer season has the highest number of travellers at the airport. In this regard, the airline has deployed additional resources to respond quickly to passenger requests on the ground. Taking care of passengers remains one of the main priorities of Air Astana." – commented Amansultan Tailakov, Senior ground services manager at Almaty Airport.
This isn’t the first-time employees at Air Astana will be volunteering. Active and involved staff at the company have previously taken part in social and eco-projects too. The Pilot Project gathered almost 70 volunteers who are easily recognised by green T-shirts with a company logo “We care”.
