Air Astana has taken delivery of a fifth Airbus A321LR on operating lease from Air Lease Corporation (ALC) of the United States. The first Airbus A321LR powered by the Pratt & Whitney PW1133G engines was delivered in September 2019, with the type steadily replacing the Boeing 757, which had been in service with Air Astana since 2003.
“We are very pleased to have taken delivery of our fifth Airbus A321LR from ALC. With its improved range, lower emissions and outstanding two-class configuration, including a 16 lie-flat seat Business Class cabin, the aircraft has proven to be immensely popular with customers and crews alike,” said Peter Foster, President & CEO of Air Astana. “Our international network is once again starting to expand using the A321LR, following last year’s significant reductions.”
Air Astana currently operates a fleet of 34 aircraft including 15 Airbus A320neo / A321neo / A321LR, three Boeing 767 and five Embraer E190-E2. Ten of the A320/A320neo aircraft are operated FlyArystan, the low-cost arm of the airline. The average age of Air Astana fleet is currently 3.5 years, which makes it one of the youngest fleets in the world.
